Students interested in legal careers often choose to specialize in one specific area of the law. Some specialize in the area of health law. These professionals work with and oversee the regulation of Health Care legislation or other health laws. In this program, a student may be introduced to health care ethics and patient's rights.

A certificate program in legal nurse consulting is aimed at RNs who have an interest in legal procedures and law and want to work with lawyers and other legal professionals in health care and legal settings. Coursework includes management of health care risk, medical records review and summary, medical liability, tort law principles and civil litigation.

CNA - Certified Nurse's Assistant

HHA - Home Health Aide

If you are interested in the field of medicine and health you may want to work as a nurse assistant or patient care assistant. These assistants help physicians and nurses care for patients who are physically disabled, mentally disabled, ill, or injured. To become a certified nurse's assistant, one must complete a program in nursing assisting (4-8 weeks) from a community college, health agency, vocational center or hospital and take the Certified Nurse's Assistant competency exam for one's state.  Home health aides provide care and support to individuals who are disabled, recovering from illness, or are elderly but still choose to reside in their own homes. A high school diploma or formal training may or may not be required, depending on the employer and State laws.
